The essential oil of Eucalyptus has a much greater effect than Eucalyptol, its’ main active principal constituent which is extracted and used in pharmaceuticals. Its effectiveness is primarily due to the action of two natural chemicals, aromadendrene and phellandrene. When they come in contact with the oxygen in the air their chemical reaction produces ozone in which bacteria cannot live.
